Pastor Jerry Swamsidi’s Biography

 

Jerry (Jeremiah) Swam Sidi (born February 2, 1979) is a Nigerian singer, musician and gospel songwriter. He gained recognition following the release of songs like, Fuska da Fuska, Ya Kare, Song Ntong, Play my Molo, and the Bajju classic hit track, Ciring Bapfwo. Jerry began his music career in 1990 and has since then led worship in different continents around the world.

 

Background:

Hailing from the bustling city of Kaduna State, Jerry Swam Sidi is deeply rooted in the cultural tapestry of Nigeria. A proud native of the Bajju tribe from the picturesque community of Fadia Tudun Wada in the Zangon Kataf Local Government Area. Jerry’s cultural background informs his music and its authentic Nigerianness.

 

Faith Journey:

From an early age, Jerry was enveloped in the Christian faith, having been raised in a devout family. His spiritual awakening occurred during a Sunday School in his formative teenage years when he professed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. This wasn’t just a fleeting moment of spiritual euphoria; it was the foundation of his lifelong commitment to Christian values. As he matured, Jerry delved deeper into understanding the essence of God, continually driven by the scriptures’ exhortation to “grow unto maturity.” His primary ambition? To ensure that through his soul-stirring music and worship, Christ is proclaimed the the uttermost corners of the earth.

Jerry’s passion for knowledge is evident in his impressive educational journey, which spans across three continents:

 

Jerry Swam Sidi earned a Doctor of Educational Ministry (DEdMin) from the prestigious Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, diving deep into the intricacies of educational practices in religious settings.

 

He also is an alumni of Baylor University Waco, Texas, where he enriched his academic credentials with a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (M.A.C.M), exploring the intersections of ministry in modern contexts.

 

He left the shores of Nigeria in 2011 and Journeyed to Asia, where he pursued a Master of Theology (Th.M. Missiology) from the esteemed Presbyterian University and Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. Learning the concepts of Missional theology and finding ways to pursue the Missio Dei of God and the mission field, bagging a Master of Theology in Missiology.

 

Closer to home, he built his foundational knowledge with a Bachelor of Arts in Theology specializing in Pastoral Studies from Jos ECWA Theological Seminary in Plateau State, Nigeria.

 

Vocation:

Jerry’s commitment to God isn’t just evident in his songs but also in his pastoral duties. He serves as the Contemporary Worship/College Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Bristol in Tennessee USA. In this role, he beautifully marries his love for music and worship with his pastoral responsibilities, ensuring that college students and the congregation connect deeply with God’s throne room.
